Exercise 3: Invent a sensory word

Exercise 3: Invent a sensory word

Goal: Warm up the imagination by inventing a new word for a sensation that doesn’t exist in human language.

Instructions

Pick a card or spin the wheel

→ Use the Sensory Channels Deck of Cards or the Physio-Ecological Axes Wheel to get inspired by a non-human way of sensing.

Imagine a specific sensation → Think of a moment, feeling, or perception that might exist through that sensory channel — even if it doesn’t make sense for humans.

Invent a name for it → Just make up a word! It can sound like an emotion, a noise, or something alien.

Write a short definition → What does this word mean? Who uses it? When?

Example:

"Flenjor" — the subtle pull sensed when underground roots change direction. Used by fungal networks to anticipate drought.
